Story
For many years 'pancreatic cancer' to me was a tragic disease associated with the occasional celebrity. It was highlighted for me last year when it took the life of Peter Harvey and I became more aware of the savage nature of this disease. However it was only when my Dad received his diagnosis on 29 October last year that I discovered just how insidious it is. He passed away less than 3 weeks later on 17 November. I am taking part in this walk for two reasons. Firstly it is an attempt to deal constructively with my all too raw grief. Secondly I have become aware of the need for more research into Pancreatic Cancer. My hope is that the funds raised by the foundation will assist in discovering a way to detect this disease earlier. This is so important because for at least six months my Dad's symptoms were misinterpreted.
You can help in a couple of ways. You could make a donation to help me achieve my goal of raising $1000 and that would be wonderful. You could also come walk with me on the day and support Team Rod. The registration fee for taking part is $25. Thanks for taking the time to read my Dad's story.
